Located on Willingtown Square in downtown Wilmington, the Delaware Center for Jewish History at the Coxe House preserves and shares the history of Jewish life in the First State. The Center is the home of the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware.
What we Collect
Our archives gather photographs, personal papers, organizational records, oral histories, and rare artifacts that document more than a century of community life. Researchers, students, and families explore these collections in our reading room, which is open by appointment.
As a cultural institution, JHSD also offers lectures, exhibitions, and programs that connect Jewish Delawareans to their shared heritage.

A growing online resource for study
We encourage visitors to explore a rich collection of digital materials documenting Delaware’s Jewish history. Our digital archives include The Jewish Voice, The Y Recorder, oral history collections, and the “Dear Mollye” Collection, a remarkable collection of letters from WWII service members.
